Filmmaker / Cultural Ambassador

Alex Rotaru is an internationally known, multi-award winning filmmaker and polymath born in Romania. After a career in film which led to the highest distinction as a young actor, he moved to the USA to pursue a degree in Physics from MIT where he graduated at the top of his class. Inspired by studying cinema at the Sorbonne, Alex switched gears and earned a Film Production MFA from University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts.

Through the company he presides, Ifavor Entertainment, Alex has produced and directed several award-winning documentaries, including the New York Times Critic’s Pick THEY CAME TO PLAY, and SHOWTIME Networks’ SHAKESPEARE HIGH, produced by Dana Brunetti, Dean Devlin and Kevin Spacey.  Selected by the U.S. Department of State as an official Cultural Ambassador,  Alex traveled the world far and wide to educate and entertain in numerous cultural exchange programs; invited often to be a member of international film festival juries, he is multiculturally fluent and flexible.

A TEDx speaker often hired to write screenplays, direct theatre, and teach master classes, Alex also received a Christopher Award for PBS POV’s THE HOBART SHAKESPEAREANS, has worked on biographies of U.S. Poet Laureates of Congress such as Louise Glück (2020 Nobel Prize for Literature), John Ashbury, W.S. Merwin, Anthony Hecht, and Kay Ryan, and can be seen on stage occasionally in Shakespeare readings or musical theater performances in his hometown, Beverly Hills.

Alex’s interest in the crypto revolution is fueled by his vision of blockchain as a potential matrix for future societies. He is involved creatively with several major crypto projects he advises: MENA-region industry leader SHEESHA FINANCE; cutting edge artist’s DAO, VEME; world-known maverick artist, philosopher and NFT agent of change, VESA; and SUPERDOGE, a charity meme coin utilizing NFTs to create positive change and community enrichment.
